Numerous prizes and honours both on national and international levels (The Middle Cross with the Star of the Hungarian Republic (H), Humboldt Prize (D), Pazmany Gyulai and Academy Prizes (H) Golden Ring of the President (H), the highest prize of the Czech Academy of Sciences, etc.), Honorary Doctor of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (Dubna, Russia), Wallis E. Lamb Award for Laser Physics and Quantum Electronics (USA), Commander of the Order of the Lion (Finland). Member of the Governing Council of ESF, Council of Academia Europaea, EURAB.
