The American Geophysics Union Fall Meeting will gather more than 20,000 visitors, uniting, for the first time in Whasington DC, The Earth and Space Science Community. This year’s meeting will serve as the launch of the AGU’s Centennial, with events, sessions, and opportunities for all attendees to reflect on the scientific progress of the last century and glimpse what challenges and breakthroughs the next 100 years will bring.

The 2018 American Association of Cell Biologists-European Molecular Biology Organisation Meeting will focus on cell biology as the fundamental basis of biology and explore more specialized fields, such as neurobiology and stem cell biology. The European Research Council will also be present to present its funding opportunities to scientists from anywhere in the world.

Launched in 2015, the aim of the European Scientific Diasporas (ESD) annual meetings is to allow leaders and members of European Scientific Diasporas in North America to meet, discuss and exchange concepts about their research projects, professional and personal experiences in their respective diasporas and overall career path.

This Austrian EU Council Presidency conference will engage around 350 participants from all over Europe and international partner countries. It will gather RTI policy makers, RTI councils, public and philanthropic funding agencies, research managers, academics, and evaluators to debate and forward valuation and impact generation of SSH in disciplinary, inter-disciplinary and trans-disciplinary research settings for the benefit of socially more robust RTI policies, RTI processes and RTI solutions to better address European challenges and missions.

Antonio Tajani, President of the European Parliament, and Carlos Moedas, Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation will host a conference on “EU Research and Innovation in our daily life” bringing together researchers and politicians to reflect on past and present achievements of EU-funded research and innovation. Speakers will discuss a variety of compelling topics such as health and wellbeing, sustainable environment, safe and secure society, and putting innovation on the market. The conference is open to everyone.

Learn more about Horizon 2020, at universities near you. H2020, the European Union’s research and innovation funding program, is the world’s largest multinational R&I program. In addition to funding collaborative research projects, it offers opportunities to individual researchers. Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions and European Research Council grants are open to researchers from public and private organizations, who would like to spend time in Europe, regardless of their nationalities, careers stage, or field of research. Experts will present these opportunities and guide the audience through the options and practicalities of application.

European Research Day (ERD) is a one-day event that celebrates and promotes Europe as a hub for research and innovation. The event is designed so that European researchers outside of Europe meet, discuss and exchange concepts about their research projects, professional and personal experience in their respective diasporas and overall career path.

The conference will take stock of relevant research supported by ERC, provide a forum of networking between the scientists leading ERC-funded projects, and position the ERC as a contributor to Artificial Intelligence (AI) through its 'bottom up' approach to research funding (see also the final programme).
