Prof Eric Robinson completed his PhD at the University of Birmingham in 2011 and is now based at the University of Liverpool, Appetite and Obesity research group. His research examines how and why social and environmental factors affect diet and health. Prof Robinson’s empirical work has been influential in the field, amassing more than 10,000 citations and he is an internationally recognised expert in the psychology of eating behaviour and public health. Dr Robinson’s research combines basic laboratory science with real-world methodologies to develop theories of ingestive behavior that can be translated to improve health. Dr Robinson’s research on how to reduce social inequalities in diet has been funded by major UK and European research councils. He has given invited talks at international academic and mainstream science meetings on his research, and work from his group has informed UK Government public health policy on eating behaviour and obesity.
