Jadranka Šepić
Jadranka-Sepic
Professor of Environmental Physics, University of Split, Croatia

Jadranka is dedicated to researching extreme sea levels, especially meteotsunamis. However, she is also interested in storm surges, tsunamis and other sea level fluctuations that can lead to extremes. She is particularly interested in historical sea level extremes and is most excited when she finds a lost account of a flood or learns of a legend about a flood (these do exist!).

She is also a European Research Council grantee and has led three other projects focused on extreme sea levels.

Jadranka enjoys teaching at all levels: from primary and secondary schools - where she takes part in hands-on oceanographic workshops, to teaching university students and giving popular lectures for the general public.

Jadranka was born in Split, Croatia. She received her Master's and PhD degrees from the University of Zagreb, worked at the Institute of Oceanography (also in Split) and spent a year abroad at the University of the Balearic Islands in Palma de Mallorca and at the Institute of Ocean Science on Vancouver Island, in beautiful British Columbia.

Jadranka and her husband Drago have three boys aged 4 to 12, and their favourite thing to do is spend a day at the beach.
