Zdeněk Strakoš is member of the Rector's Board for the ERC and Research Development Tools. Since 2006, he has been working at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of the Charles University as a professor. He studied mathematics at the Czech Technical University (1981) and then he worked at the Academy of Sciences (then CSAV), where he obtained scientific degrees. Between 1991 and 2000 he worked in the USA. He is dedicated to numerical and computational mathematics. A 2013 monograph entitled Krylov Subspace Methods, Principles and Analysis, published by Oxford University Press (co-authored by Jörg Liesen), has become one of the basic references in the field. He is also the recipient of several awards – including Donatio Universitatis Carolinae
