To date, 32 Japanese scientists have won ERC research grants worth about 41 million Euros. Japanese scientists also work in the research teams of ERC funded Principal Investigators. In order to enhance the collaboration between Japanese scholars in ERC funded researchers, the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) and the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) have signed agreements enabling Japanese scholars to conduct short-term study visit of ERC funded research teams. The ERC grants provide sufficient flexibility to allow international visits of the ERC supported Principal Investigator and/or members of their team, if this is necessary to meet the scientific objectives of the ERC grant. Collaborative possibilities that are created through the Implementing Arrangements of the ERC with the JSPS and the JST could benefit from this possibility in order to further enhance scientific cooperation between the EU and Japan.

We welcome university executives and administrators of Research University Consortium (RUC) Japan, and expect the attendance of early career and established scientists. Young scientists including doctoral students who want to join international collaboration between Japan and EU will benefit a lot from the information provided. Graduate students are also welcome.
