Conflict of Interests, Scientific Misconduct and Ethics

By delegation of the Scientific Council, the Standing Committee on Conflict of Interest, Scientific Misconduct and Ethical Issues (CoIME)  is responsible for formulating guidelines on conflict of interest, fraud and ethical matters related to any facet of the ERC's competences, clarifying criteria and considering any particular instance or situation where ethical concerns may arise.

Fulfilling its task, the CoIME has developed an "ERC Scientific Misconduct Strategy" stating that all concerns about potential scientific misconduct or suspected breaches of research integrity that may arise during the life cycle of an ERC project will be addressed by the ERC within the applicable legal and procedural framework.

The CoIME is involved, with an important advisory/consultative role, in the process of examining information on cases of alleged scientific misconduct, in close collaboration with the ERCEA.
