Dr Laurence Moreau is the Director of the European Research Council (ERC) Executive Agency (ERCEA), the administrative arm of the ERC, since June 2022. She was already the Acting Director of the executive agency since January 2022. Prior to this, from 2016 she led the ERCEA’s Unit for "Legal affairs and Internal Control” before heading its “Resources and Support” Department. Before joining the ERCEA, she had some experience working in an executive agency (Research Executive Agency – REA) and had worked many years for the Directorate General (DG) for Research and Innovation with various positions in different Directorates (“Biotechnologies, Agriculture and Food” and “Industrial Technologies”). She started her career in the European Commission services in 1999 working for the Food and Veterinary Office of the Directorate- General for Health and Consumers (DG SANCO) . She holds a doctoral degree in veterinary medicine from the University of Nantes and has worked several years for the French Ministry of Agriculture in Brittany.
