Alexandra Baneu

Alexandra Baneu is a researcher specialising in medieval philosophy, philology, and intellectual history. As the principal investigator of the ERC Starting Grant project "Note-taking and Notebooks as Channels of Medieval Academic Dissemination across Europe" (NOTA, contract no. 945152) at Babeș-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca, she has led research initiatives in the field. Her work includes academic research management, philological editing, Latin translations, and writing scientific articles. Earlier positions at Babeș-Bolyai University involved research roles in prestigious grants such as "The Rise of an Intellectual Elite in Central Europe: University of Vienna 1389-1450" and "Philosophy and Theology in Cistercian Commentaries on the Sentences."
Beyond research, she has also held teaching roles, serving as an associate lecturer at Babeș-Bolyai University. Her courses have covered Latin, Ancient Philosophy, Renaissance Philosophy, Dante Studies, and Neoplatonism and Scholasticism.
Her permanent position is as researcher at the "Sextil Pușcariu" Institute of Linguistics and Literary History, affiliated with the Romanian Academy. Her responsibilities include the preparation of philological editions, Latin translations, and the publication of academic papers.
