Alicja Józkowicz, PhD, DSc, is a professor of biological sciences at the Faculty of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Biotechnology of the Jagiellonian University. She graduated in 1991 and obtained her PhD in 1997 at the same university. Then she completed two postdoctoral internships: at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and at the Medical University of Vienna. Her current research interests include: i) mechanisms of angiogenesis; ii) endothelial cell differentiation and heterogeneity; iii) hematopoietic niche; iv) heme metabolism and heme-dependent cell signalling. She served as a panellist and reviewer in the evaluation of research projects in many national and international agencies (including as a panellist of LS9 AdG ERC for 4 terms). She is the co-author of over 200 publications, cited over 11,000 times.
