Ana Bastos

Ana Bastos is Professor of Land-Atmosphere Interactions at the University of Leipzig. She holds a PhD in Geophysics and Geoinformation Sciences from the University of Lisbon. Her research focuses on the carbon cycle, climate-ecosystem feedbacks, and the impact of extremes on forest dynamics. She co-leads the RECCAP-2 project under the Global Carbon Project, supporting carbon budget assessments for the Paris Agreement. Ana received the EGU Biogeosciences Early Career Award in 2022 and an ERC Starting Grant. Beyond science, she advocates for diversity, inclusion, and mental health in academia.
