Dr Tasos Gaitanis holds a PhD in Medical Physics from the Medical School of the University of Patras, a master's degree (MSc) in Medical Physics from the University of Surrey, UK, and an undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of West Attica.

Since 2003, he has been working at the Biomedical Research Foundation Academy of Athens. He initially served as Head of the Biomedical Technology Department and was later promoted to Staff Research Scientist in 2014, aiming to develop the infrastructure and operation of Preclinical PET/CT imaging. Alongside these roles, he has been responsible for quality assurance, serving as quality manager for both the ISO 17025:2005 Pharmacology laboratory and the GLP system.

Dr Tasos Gaitanis has been actively involved in various European and national research programmes and has published numerous scientific papers in prestigious international journals and conference proceedings. His work has received awards at both Greek and international conferences. In addition to his research, he teaches in postgraduate programmes and supervises doctoral and postgraduate theses. He has also evaluated research programmes in EU member countries.
