Eleonora Macchia is Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Bari and Head of Research at Åbo Akademi University. She leads the ERC Starting Grant 2021 project 'NoOne', pioneering single-molecule digital sensors to advance biomedical diagnostics. Previously, she was Principal Investigator of the ProSiT project, funded by the Academy of Finland, and contributed to the H2020 SiMBiT project on bioelectronics. Holding a PhD in Chemical Sciences and a Master’s in Physics, both summa cum laude, she has authored 93 publications, co-invented two patents, and received multiple scientific awards. As an ERC Ambassador, she actively promotes STEM education, with a particular focus on empowering women in science.
