Giovanni Di Pino is MD/PhD, Neurologist, Full Professor of Human Physiology and Head of the “NeXT: Neurophysiology and Neuroengineering of Human-Technology Interaction” Research Unit at Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome. Giovanni’s current fields of interest are system neurophysiology, neuroengineering and all possible combinations therewithin. He is primarily involved in: developing neural and non-invasive interfaces to control human sensorized cybernetic prostheses and supernumerary robotic limbs to improve human-machine integration; clarifying the mechanisms behind the sensorimotor control loop and the hand representation in the brain; investigating which features in an artificial limb favour its embodiment and the related brain processes; developing novel methods for non-invasive neuromodulation in health and disease.
He co-authored several international peer-reviewed publications and he is official reviewer for the most renowned journal of the field, the EU Commission and National funding systems.
