Jonathan C. Borg is a Mechanical Engineering graduate from the University of Malta. He worked with the Maltese Water Authority for three years, managing CAED systems and formed part of the team that developed a water aquifer computational model. He joined the University in 1992, lecturing and researching product development, engineering design, and digital manufacturing. He holds an M.Sc. and Ph.D. from the University of Strathclyde (UK). Jonathan served as Head of the Department of Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering from 2001 to 2012. He established the MSc in Integrated Product Development in 2005 and co-founded the 'International PhD Summer School on Integrated Product Development' in 2014. He has chaired the Faculty's Industrial Advisory Board since 2019.  Jonathan is regularly appointed as an expert evaluator for EC projects on ICT in Design & Manufacturing.  In 2020 and 2022 he chaired the European Research Council's Starting Grants panel for products and processes. He received a Medal of Appreciation from the UK Institution of Engineering Designers in 2003 and made Honorary Professor at the University of Miskolc in 2017. He has published over 140 peer-reviewed scientific publications and leads the Concurrent Engineering Research Unit (CERU).
