Panagiota Kotsila
Panagiota Kotsila is a Research Professor at ICTA-UAB and the PI of the 5-year ERC-CoG project IMBRACE which looks at what shapes immigrants’ climate health vulnerability and the situated knowledges that inform response capacities and urban climate adaptation more broadly. She is a biologist by training, with a Joint Master’s degree on Environmental Studies, and a PhD in Development Studies. She has been a mentor in the H2020 WEGO-ITN on feminist political ecology, and a member of the collective Undisciplined Environments. Here contributions span from the analysis of socio-ecological and structural determinants of health, critical appraisal of urban sustainability discourses and practices, including on nature-based solutions and housing retrofitting, documenting their impact on inequality. She also works closely with local groups and collectives struggling for urban climate, environmental and health justice, whose inputs inform co-created academic, creative, and public outputs.
