Pavel Jelinek, is senior research at the Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences. He received his Ph.D. degree in Material and Physical Engineering from the Czech Technical University in 2001. From 2001-2005 he was a postdoctoral fellow at Autonomous University of Madrid, focusing on theoretical description of transport phenomena at nanoscale. In 2008 he was Fulbright fellow at Arizona State University. In 2014-2015 he was appointed as visiting Professor Graduate School of Engineering, Osaka University. In 2009, he established research NANOSURF group, which strongly benefits from the unique synergy between experiment and theory. His research field is on-surface synthesis, molecular electronics, low dimensional materials, scanning probe microscopy and strongly correlated systems. He is the recipient of several national research awards including Praemium Academiae (Czech Academy of Sciences) The Rudolf Lukes Prize (Czech Chemical Society).
