
The ERC takes part with ERC President Prof. Jean-Pierre Bourguignon, ERC Vice-President Prof. Núria Sebastian Galles and 18 ERC grant holders, which makes it the strongest ERC delegation at AMNC so far. Most of the grantees are young researchers – 12 are part of the AMNC's Young Scientists Programme, which is around one third of all Young Scientists. The ERC will participate in eight sessions, and will hold a separate press briefing, to bring in in the science perspective into the debate. ERC President Jean-Pierre Bourguignon will take part in a discussion on what enables sustainable long-term innovation. In another panel, ERC Vice-President Núria Sebastián Gallés will join a debate on the importance of new findings resulting from fundamental research for human progress.
On Friday 11 September at 11.00 - 12.15, there will be an Ideas Lab session - "New Energy Sources with the European Research Council" - with ERC grantees Professors Ellen Backus, Santiago Badia, Frédérique Battin-Leclerc and Anna Fontcuberta i Morral. Other grantees will share the latest developments in their research fields in various other sessions.
