In particular, the focus will be put on privatisation of knowledge, and how this can represent a barrier for anthropologists trying to perform this role and engage a wider audience.

The ERC will hold an open session on the 4th May with grantees Prof. Alice Bellagamba and Prof. Thomas Hylland Eriksen titled "Searching for EU funding? Focus on the European Research Council". ERC Scientific officer for Science and Humanities Dr. Inge Ruigrok will be the panel chair and will be presenting the opportunities offered by the ERC and how to apply for grants.

Session: " New global enclosures and uncertain livelihoods in our “overheated” world"

ERC grantee Prof. Thomas Hylland Eriksen participating in panel that will engage with contested processes of natural resource acquisition, conflicts over ownership, and the question of how to make a living. This panel will discuss the widespread commodification of communal land and water that is occurring with ever increasing speed nowadays.
