The Naturejobs Career Expo is the UK's largest career fair and conference for the scientific world.

The Expo promotes the UK and Europe as great places to pursue a career in science, be it in industrial research, research organisations or academia. It presents the best opportunities from the best organisations: public, private, national and international.

As in previous years, the ERC jointly with Marie Curie Actions and Euraxess will have a booth and a workshop:

Workshop

Passionate about research? European funding opportunities and services for creative minds from anywhere in the world

Thursday 22 September 2011, 10:00-12:00, Room C

Speakers:

  • David Pina Research Executive Agency (REA), Belgium
  • Brito Ferreira Research Executive Agency (REA), Belgium
  • Hilde Baeskens European Research Council Executive Agency (ERC), Belgium
  • Gordana Popovic European Research Council Executive Agency (ERC), Belgium
  • Kitty Fehringer European Commission's Directorate-General for Research, Science and Innovation - EURAXESS, Belgium
  • Stefania Bettini (EXT) European Commission's Directorate-General for Research, Science and Innovation - EURAXESS, Belgium

The workshop presents the European Union's funding opportunities and services for first-class, up-and-coming researchers, who are keen to develop and fast-track their careers in Europe.

Complementarily, the Marie Curie Actions (MCA) offer fellowships for career development at post-graduate and post-doctoral level, and the European Research Council (ERC) offers grants to promising researchers enabling them to establish or consolidate themselves as independent leaders of a research team. Both are open to researchers of any nationality and encourage talent from all fields to research in Europe.

Researcher mobility and career development link the MCA and ERC funding schemes, and the support provided by the EURAXESS – Researchers in Motion initiative.

EURAXESS is a unique pan-European initiative providing access to a complete range of information and support services for European and non-European researchers wishing to pursue research careers in Europe.

Together, these initiatives play a central role in the European Research Area by improving researchers' careers, promoting their mobility, and reflect a substantial step in the way Europe manages its research base.
