World Economic Forum 2019

At this year’s World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland, the European Research Council (ERC) will bring frontier science to the discussions, represented by ERC President Prof. Jean-Pierre Bourguignon and eight stellar ERC grantees. There will also be a press conference on the "The science of healthy ageing".

ERC speakers will participate in over 10 sessions in total, with ERC President Bourguignon speaking on "Bridging Science with Society" ( watch session ), "Nurturing a positive research culture" and "The Ethical Imperative".
Grantees will speak on topics such as "The Big Picture on a Hothouse Earth" ( Johan Rockström); "Systems Tipping Point: Computing Technology" (Jeremy O'Brien); "Searching for Truth" and "Preparing for future Migration Scenarios" (Eyal Weizman); "Mechanisms of Ageing" (Dame Linda Partridge); "Smarter Drug Design" (Costas Demetriades); "Social and biological drivers of Ageing" (Virpi Lummaa).
The ERC is also organising an Ideas Lab on "The Secrets to Healthy Longevity" with grantees Dame Linda Partridge, Constantinos Demitriades and Virpi Lummaa, including an introduction by Jean-Pierre Bourguignon.
