The ERC Scientific Council visits Sweden

On 28 to 30 June, during the last days of Sweden’s Presidency of the Council of the EU, the ERC Scientific Council will gather in Stockholm for a plenary meeting. This is the first time the ERC’s governing body convenes in Sweden since the EU established the ERC in 2007. Hosted by the Swedish Research Council, the visit is an opportunity for the ERC President Maria Leptin and the Scientific Council to meet policy-makers, ERC grantees and the research community.
It is timely to acknowledge the role of Swedish research figures, such as Prof. Dan Brändström, in the creation of the ERC. President Maria Leptin commented: “Swedish research personalities played a key role in sowing the first seeds of what was to become the European Research Council, which has by now grown into a beacon for European cutting-edge frontier science. In the last days of Sweden’s Presidency for the Council of the EU, the ERC’s visit to Stockholm is a chance to meet both researchers and policy-makers.”
An event (upon invitation only) with new ERC grantees will also take place.
