ERC at the World Economic Forum's annual meeting in Davo
The Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) will take place in Davos, Switzerland, from 19 to 23 January, with ERC President Maria Leptin and several ERC grantees, including two Nobel Prize laureates, amongst the speakers. They will bring their scientific expertise to the discussions around this year’s theme: ' A Spirit of Dialogue '.
 
ERC President Maria Leptin will take part in several sessions including the livestreamed discussion: ‘Can we protect science?’, Friday 23 January 9.00 - 09.45.
 
 
ERC grantees:
 
  • Professor Philippe Aghion, recent Nobel laureates in Economics and expert on innovation-driven economic growth and more, will speak in a livestreamed session on ‘Return of creative destruction’: Tuesday 20 January 9.45 - 10.30.
     
  • Professor Sir Christopher Pissarides, Nobel Prize winner in Economics specialised on labour markets, will share insights, including in a livestreamed session on ‘Corporate ladders, AI reshuffled’: Tuesday 20 January 17.30 - 18.15.
     
  • Professor Johan Rockström, Director of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, will take part in several sessions including two livestreamed: ‘The snow factor’, Tuesday 20 January 9.30 - 10.45 (Open Forum) and ‘How can we build prosperity within planetary boundaries?’, Tuesday 20 January 15.30 - 16.15.
     
  • Professor Anna Fontcuberta i Morral, President of the EPFL in Lausanne and with scientific expertise in nanotechnology and sustainable semiconductor materials.
     
  • Professor Jeremy O’Brien, who is co-founder and CEO of PsiQuantum, a company soon to deliver the world’s first commercially useful quantum computers.
