Science in action: Celebrate Europe Day with the ERC
On 9 May 2026, the European Institutions will once again open their doors to the public to celebrate Europe Day, and the European Research Council will be there to welcome visitors in Brussels. From 10.00 to 18.00, you will have the opportunity to discover how EU-funded research contributes to our everyday lives, from improving health and wellbeing to driving innovation and creating new opportunities for the future.
The ERC will be present in the Social Fairness Village, under the 'Choose Europe' theme, alongside other European Commission services and agencies. Together, we will bring science closer to you through interactive activities, games, and engaging experiences for all ages, showing how EU-funded research contributes to our everyday lives, from health and wellbeing to innovation and opportunity.
Throughout the day, you can explore hands-on games, take part in a Kahoot quiz, and experience immersive elements such as virtual reality. These activities are designed to make science accessible and engaging, while offering a closer look at how research and innovation supported by the EU have a tangible impact on society.
Europe Day is open to everyone, whether you are curious about science, interested in the work of the European Union, or simply looking for an engaging day out in Brussels. It is a unique opportunity to meet the people behind EU initiatives and to better understand how their work contributes to citizens’ lives across Europe.
We invite you to join us, take part in the activities, and experience firsthand how science helps shape Europe’s future.
