The ERC Synergy Grants 2026 call closed for applications on 5 November 2025.
These are the preliminary data on the submitted proposals:
- The ERC received 957 proposals, the highest number since the launch of the call in 2012. This represents a 34% increase compared to last year’s call, which already saw a 30% rise over the previous one.
- The proposals involve 3,312 principal investigators, of whom 1,094 (33%) are women, marking a steady increase in female participation over recent years (30% in 2025 and 27% in 2023).
In its Work Programme 2026, the ERC earmarked €500 million for around 50 grants. The evaluation of the proposals is now under way, and the projects selected for funding are expected to be announced in the autumn of 2026.
