The ERC Advanced Grants 2019 call closed for applications on 29 August 2019. These are the preliminary data on submitted proposals:

  • This year the ERC received 1,881 applications, compared to 2,052 in 2018 competition
  • The highest number of applications was submitted in the domain of Physical Sciences and Engineering (838), followed by Life Sciences (550), and Social Science and Humanities (493)
  • Almost 19% of proposals were submitted by women – roughly consistent with just over 19% in 2018

The ERC Work Programme earmarked €391 million for an estimated 166 Advanced Grants in 2019. The ERC is now starting evaluation of the proposals. The selected projects will be announced in spring 2020.

ERC Advanced Grants are designed to support excellent scientists in any field at the career stage at which they are already established research leaders with a recognised track record of research achievements in the last ten years.
