
The ERC Starting Grants 2019 call closed for applications on 17 October 2018.
These are the preliminary data on submitted proposals: This year the ERC received 3,106 applications, a slight decrease (around -2%) compared to the previous Starting Grants call.
The highest number of applications was submitted in the domain of Physical Sciences and Engineering (1,363), followed by Life Sciences (867), and Social Science and Humanities (876). Nearly 39% of proposals were submitted by women compared to 37% last year.
In the ERC Work Programme the ERC Scientific Council has earmarked €580 million for an estimated 390 Starting Grants in 2019. The ERC is now starting evaluation of the proposals. The projects selected for funding will be announced in summer 2019.
