ERC President visits Poland

ERC President Maria Leptin will visit Warsaw on 23 September to meet members of the Polish government, science policy-makers, ERC grantees and the research community. ERC Scientific Council member Leszek Kaczmarek and former ERC Vice-President Andrzej Jajszczyk - both from Poland - will also take part in the programme, as well as many ERC grantees and panel members.

The visit will start at the Nałęcz Institute of Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering, Polish Academy of Sciences (IBBE PAS), where Prof. Leptin will give a welcome address together with Prof. Marek Konarzewski, President of the Polish Academy of Sciences. They will then both participate in a roundtable discussion on the “Key role of frontier research in addressing global challenges of modern world”, moderated by ERC Scientific Council member Prof. Leszek Kaczmarek.

In the afternoon, former Vice-President Prof. Andrzej Jajszczyk will give a keynote lecture opening the workshops for ERC applicants, organised by domain, where multiple ERC grantees and panel members will share their experiences and advice.
